Ugly. That’s what November is here in Canada. It’s a few weeks away but I’m dreading it already. It is, hands down, the worst month of the year in Canada.
I have a habit of dreading things long before their arrival which makes the dreaded ‘thing’ all the more loathsome because it steals my mood before its even arrived. I used to dread going to work when I did the 9-5 thing. I started dreading Monday morning half-way through my Saturday night. It robbed me of my entire Sunday. I feel much the same about November; which is sad really because November is my birthday month. All of autumns colour is gone in November; the trees are bare, its damp, its cold and its dark. Dark when you get up in the morning and dark again by late afternoon. Miserable.
This year, I’m determined to take back November by filling it with little adventures to look forward to each and every day.
I’m challenging myself to an Adventure-A-Day’ and I’m hoping some of you will join me. Wouldn’t infusing a little adventure into each week (each day) during an otherwise gloomy, dismal month make life soo much better? Maybe, unlike myself, you have no hard feelings towards November but you’d like to shake things up a bit and step outside of your everyday routine. Adventures are the triggers for so many great things. They are stepping-stones to uncovering new passions in life, new joys, new hobbies and so much more.
When we change our view we can gain a new perspective on life.
Every day throughout the entire month of November I’m going to have a mini adventure and share it with all of you by the end of that same day…..even if it takes me until midnight to get it done! The adventures could be anything from an experience I’ve never had before (horseback riding?) to trying a new food (or better yet, making it myself!), exploring my city, getting away for a few days or attempting my everyday activities in a completely new way (can I actually fall asleep on the other side of the bed?).
I’m hoping to step way outside of my comfort zone, stir things up and have a few laughs along the way….even if they’re all at my expense.
I’m not disillusioned. Filling the calendar with an adventure-a-day; however small, will be quite a challenge. I’ll be limited by the amount of free time I have each day, the hours of actual daylight as they dwindle throughout the month and the motivation to keep the adventures going right to the end of the month. But, it wouldn’t be a challenge if it was easy to accomplish now would it?!
I Need Your Help!
I’m willing to bet I’m not alone in my disdain for November. Surely there are many of you out there that also find November a hard month to bare. So, why don’t you join me in having an adventure-a-day. Wouldn’t it be nice to wake up knowing that regardless of whatever other responsibilities you have that day, you’ll also have a little adventure to look forward to? Maybe there’s something you’ve been meaning to try, eat or see that you just haven’t been able to get to? Why not plan for it one day in November?
Unshackle yourself from life’s daily routines and challenge yourself to do something a little different from your norm each day. Push yourself into a new way of looking at your life and your world. Join me in this challenge.
The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.

If you’d like to join me as I challenge myself (and you!) to have an adventure-a-day you can do so by:
1. Following me here on the Passion Searcher blog – just click the Follow button on the top right-hand side of this article before November 1st.
2. ‘Like’ the Passion Searcher Facebook page: click here
3. You can also participate by joining me on Instagram where I’ll share pictures of each daily adventure: click here
4. Leave a comment after any post here on the blog throughout the month of November to share your own adventure with all of us. Give me suggestions to help me come up with new adventure ideas each day. Send an encouraging word mid-month when I’m (inevitably) struggling to continue.
5. Tag your own adventure stories/photos on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #AdventureADay throughout November so we can follow along with your daily adventures. I’ll be doing the same!
So what do you say? Are you up for a little challenge?
Let us step into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.
