Nyhaven canal tour tip: When the Danish say “duck!”, just do it.

IMG_2788Yesterday I was looking through some photos of a trip to Copenhagen and I stumbled across the pics of our canal tour through Nyhaven and surrounds. Funny stuff.

Here’s a few ‘views’ from the boat heading under the numerous bridges along the waterways. Normally on a boat cruise I sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery passing by, grateful to be off my feet for an hour or so. But you have to have your wits about you for this canal tour. The bridges are VERY low. If you look down to fiddle with your camera or let the tour guide’s voice get drowned out by your thoughts…WHACK!

When they say “duck!” in Denmark, they mean “kiss your knees people, there’s another bridge ahead!”.

These are the quirks of travelling that I love most.
