This morning I was reminded of one of my favourite lyrics/quotes: “From the ashes of disaster grow the roses of success” (its a lyric from a song in the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang).

A small disaster is exactly what I felt I had. I was trying to create my own version of a unique centrepiece idea I had heard about a few months ago but it all hinged on my printer being able to print on vellum paper. Turns out my printer CAN print on vellum, but only kinda. Instead of an image printed in full colour I got just an overall pinkish hue. :(  Doesn’t make for a very impressive final product (see the pic below of my pink family on the pink beach).

I started cleaning everything up and decided the project was a total bust. But later, in my car, an idea started to emerge that could put the project back on track.  From the ashes of my disaster grew an idea I could work with.

Here’s a few pics showing my customized glass candle vases. I think a small cluster of them would make a great centrepiece for a dinner party.

Trace an image onto some vellum paper and then colour your image.

Tape the customized vellum paper onto your glass candle vase.

Add a tea light and enjoy!

Print a photo onto vellum paper using your printer then tape the vellum onto the candle vase. Hopefully your printer will print a more full-colour version than mine did.
