What do Jennifer Lawrence and I now have in common?  GoGirl.

That’s right, she and I both know what’s in this small tube. I received mine today as a birthday gift from a good friend. Let’s open it to unveil today’s daily adventure.

Adventure-A-Day: Day 23

Today is my birthday. It’s also the day that I received the most unusual birthday present ever. A friend of mine gave me a GoGirl –  a female urination device (FUD) that allows you to urinate while standing up….like a guy. 

I know, I thought it sounded gimmicky at first too but then I gave it a little more thought.  Think about all those times when you  couldn’t find a toilet… or when you found one that was completely disgusting and wished you didn’t have to get anywhere near it. GoGirl is essentially a funnel that lets you pee standing up so you can avoid that filthy toilet or handle situations when there’s nary a toilet to be seen.

I can think of several times a GoGirl would have come in handy when I was travelling abroad and encountered a washroom that no one should ever have to experience. Camping, hiking, driving/motorcycling – bathrooms don’t always exist where we need them to and being able to use the washroom standing up, either in the woods or roadside, would make life a whole lot easier and cleaner, right? I know I’d prefer to stand up to use the washroom in airplanes and if I recall correctly, navigating a “successful” washroom visit in a wedding dress is no small feat.

So what does this have to do with Jennifer Lawrence? Well, she had to use one while in costume for her role in X-Men: Days of Future Past. The costume and make-up took hours to put on and didn’t allow for using the washroom sitting down. Enter GoGirl.

So will I be trying out my new GoGirl? I wouldn’t be very adventurous if I didn’t now would I? Besides, if it’s good enough for Jennifer, it’s good enough for me. Maybe I’ll pack it for my next flight.
